The Parks 10" f/4 & f/15 Hybrid Integrated Telescope (HIT) is really two telescopes in one: a fast f/4 Newtonian and sharp f/15 Cassegrain.
The ultra fast, rich-field (f/4) reflector mode combines large aperture and a wide field of view to deliver breathtaking views of globular clusters, open clusters, nebulae and galaxies. This mode is perfect for deep sky photographic applications. Astro-photographers will appreciate the extremely fast photographic performance the f/4 design delivers.
The long focal length (f/15) classical Cassegrain mode is ideal for high magnification, high-resolution observing and photography. The Cassegrain mode delivers stunning planetary, lunar, solar and double-star images.
Parks HIT Observatory systems are supplied with two secondary mirrors, Cassegrain and Newtonian. To switch modes, a secondary with its is lifted out and another one put into the same spider. Both mirror holders use pins to index into the proper position. This switch can be performed in just minutes, without the need for re-collimation.
All mirrors are ground, polished, and hand figured completely in-house for diffraction-limited results. The optics are mounted in a genuine Parks low thermal conductive fiberglass tube. The tube provides room around the mirror for air movement without disturbing the images. A large 8x50 right angle/straight-through finderscope is standard, as is a 2" rack and pinion focuser with 1.25" adapter. The primary mirror cell and secondary mirror holder are adjustable for alignment purposes. The rotating ring system allows convenient re-positioning of the eyepiece or camera, depending on the location of the target.
New state-of-the-art, low voltage 12 VDC clock drive/drive corrector runs anywhere in the world without changing the motors or circuitry. Using less than .5 amps at 12 volts, the dual-axis drive corrector can be selected to run at lunar, solar or sidereal rates. Declination motor, declination reversing switch, and dual-axis hand control unit are included.
Also new is a spring loaded, quick release, anti-backlash declination tangent system with manual and electronic slow-motion tracking capabilities. The worm and gear are both lapped to increase accuracy, and are individually matched. A spring-loaded worm gear assembly assures 100% interfacing of the gears for superior accuracy.
